The Family Bracelet

In Attire
Relationship: Child of im/migrant

Everyone has an item that can connect them to their culture or their identity. For me, that’s a bracelet. Let me tell you about the history of this bracelet. My grandparents from my dad’s side decided to go to Hong Kong. In Hong Kong, they picked up this bracelet from a jewelry shop. This bracelet would later be passed down to one of her daughters, and passed down to me. Being from Vietnamese descent, my parents, and grandparents both had to go through immigration out of Vietnam during the Vietnam War, and into America. One of the items that was brought over was this bracelet. Over time, my grandmother’s health started to decline, and she knew that she wanted to give it to one of her daughters. The bracelet was given to my aunt, and now passed down to me.
