Naturalization Papers
This picture is from the original naturalization documents given to the grandmother of a personal friend when she first immigrated to the United States. Born in Stobierna, Poland, she immigrated to the United States from Bremen, Germany aboard the SS Kaiser Wilhelm Der Grosse and resided in Kewanee Illinois. She was 35 years old at the time of documentation, but sadly was deceased six months later, her husband having died a year prior. She left behind 7 kids, all of which carried on their lives in the US, and now her last name has entered into a fourth generation, with her grandson who lives in Plainfield having two kids of his own. Her story outlines the effort for many Eastern European immigrants who came to the US in hopes for a better future for themselves and their kids.
