In 1840, when he was 13 years old, he got sent alone to England, because he needed to escape Tsars army. In England he got a job as a blacksmith’s apprentice. In 1862 he applied to go to America. In 1866, he got on a boat and came to America. He got a job as a tailor. During his time there, he met a woman named Mary Gerson. They got married and had 9 kids. 8 of them survived. He later got a job as a successful businessman. He was known to take his employees on annual trips to the Catskill Mountains. In the 1870s he died of heart failure.
