Golden Gate Bridge Sunrise
In February 1971, my wife and I emigrated to the U.S. We went on board the SS President Cleveland, an American President LInes Passenger Ship. It was a 19 days voyage from HOng Kong to San Francisco. The SS President Cleveland sailed from teh Ocean Terminal of Hong Kong. The voyage was wonderful and enjoyable as the ship woudl vist Kobe, Yokohama, Honolulu and finally San Francisco. On the day before the liner arrived at San Francisco, teh captain announced that all passengers should be on the deck at 6:00 A.M. to watch sunrise as the ship arrived at San Fancisco. On that favorable morning in February 1971, we saw a beautiful and most impressive sunrise as the SS President Cleveland slowly sailed under the Golden Gate Bridge. All the passengers cheered on the deck. That was the most wonderful introduction to the United States.
