My Mom (Barbara Williams) and her family left Cuba for Florida in 1971. My Grandpa (her Dad) was a Cuban soldier part of Fidel Castro’s army. They built a raft that can help them go 90 miles from Cuba to Key West. They didn’t bring much, but one thing my family brought was a Chi Rho candle. The P going through the X is the Chi Rho symbol. Mostly used in Christianity, but the symbol means good and useful, and always has the meaning that represents that God had defeated sin and death. The brought this along to help them on their journey to America and have good fortune as well. They also brought because God was helping them defeat sin and death in communist Cuba and heading towards the good of America
