In my family, there is a lot of cultural diversity. The majority of my family came from Italy. The first woman in my family to move from Italy to the United States of America was my great grandmother. She and her husband (my great grandfather) worked very hard and although they were doing well, they were seeking more opportunity. So, they decided to move to America. With her, she brought her watch, which represented the little success there was to offer in Italy. The watch is gold, rusty, and old. It is very unique because it is old fashioned, but simple at the same time. Ending up successful, she raised a family and passed down her watch until it eventually got to my sister and I. Now I see both opportunity and the idea of pride in my heritage. It is truly amazing how far my great grandmother got and how that watch traveled with her the whole way. The watch has that vintage Italian look to it that is so hard to describe but beautiful to take in and admire.
