USC
Ever since I was a kid, my family has shown love for one University in particular. That school is the University of Southern California. I remember the stories my dad would tell me as a kid, his dreams of attending that school and playing with their marching band. Even as a kid, I’d sit on the couch and watch all of their college football and basketball games on TV with my dad. This school holds significance to me, because not only was I raised with their memorabilia all around my house, but also because SoCal will always hold a special place in my heart. It’s where I’ve been closest to my family, my happiness, and my culture, and it’s the place where I want to move when I’m done with high school. USC Thornton specifically was ranked #6 in the country for music. An important thing I should mention is that music is my passion. In the past four years, I’ve learned to play several instruments. Whether that’s playing a drumset or marching snare with the band, or playing guitar and singing with the Mariachi. That leads me to the next reason for choosing USC. They not only have an outstanding marching band, but have also added a Mariachi in recent years. I love playing with a band, and especially love creating music of my own. So for all of these reasons, I feel like my motivation to go here will take me far. Even if I don’t get in, while it would be devastating, I know it’s good to have other options. Either way, I plan on pursuing a future in music. Due to that, I’m hopeful that I’ll make that dream come true if I can get into USC.
