The Chinese Red Envelope
My object is a Chinese New Year Envelope or you can call it a red envelope. It originates from Asia where my family is from. Every time I have a special occasion, I received something like this from all of my relatives and on Chinese New Year too. Inside the envelope, we receive money and this is a tradition to our culture. This envelope represents good luck, happiness, and it wards off the evil spirits. The reason why it is in red is because red is good luck to Chinese people. This is important to my family because this is a rare time of year where we can all get together and celebrate the new year. Every time I receive one of these envelopes, I smile not only because there's money in there but because I know that my relatives are wishing me good luck. That's why this red envelope is important to my family and my culture because it reminds us that there's always something that you can do in life such as walking or taking a week vacation at a 5 star hotel in Europe.
