My great grandfather, immigrated from Lithuania and came to the United States for a good job. But his real reason to leave was because the Jews were being persecuted, and he was Jewish. And he brought a little statue of a Jewish woman to America with him. When he arrived, he found himself on Ellis Island with a 10 hour wait. When he finally got out, he signed up for the army. He jumped out of planes. And survived the war! If he died, I would not be writing this today. And now the statue is on our shelf, and ready for the next adventure.
