The items that are in this image are more than simple souvenirs. They are really significant because they represent important memories. I was born and raised in New York. The pin in the image was given to me by the airline I was traveling in to go to Mexico. That trip and the ones after that made me more understanding of my roots. The lifestyle in Mexico was way different then the one I have in New York. I was able to go to places I never expected to be and learned different things about it. I was able to be part of traditions that aren’t done in my home. I learned about the history of certain places in Mexico. I cherish every moment I was in Mexico because this experience helped me realize that it’s the little things we take for granted that could have a huge impact somewhere else. I am American but also proud to be Mexican as well. Being American to me is being part of a diverse country.
