The objects up above are nesting dolls that came from Moscow, Russia. They belong to the mother of one of my brother's friends. Nesting dolls have been popular in Russian culture for many years. She brought these nesting dolls over with her when she came to Chicago from Russia in 1994. They have stayed within the household as a way to remind the children of their mother's journey as an immigrant.
