This is my family. To the left is my mom. She is a strong independent woman. She takes care of us on her own. Next to her is my older brother, he tries to help as much as he can. Next to him is my older sister. She focuses on school and softball. Then there’s me. I’m the baby of  my family and I love it. I’m this picture. We are all laughing, but this day was very difficult. A couple of months before this picture was taken, I got badly injured playing softball. I had a boot and crutches for the whole summer. The problem was getting around Governors Island on crutches in 95 degree weather. I was tired and sweaty. All I wanted to do was go home. When I saw how happy my mom was because we were taking family pictures, I decided to not complain and go with the flow. That day turned out to be amazing and fun. We kept joking around and just enjoying each other’s company even though we all knew who was missing from the picture. This picture is important to my family because it was the first family picture we did since my biological father decided to make a bad choice that left him out our lives forever. We’ve been through so much as a family that it has brought us closer and this picture represents that.
