Queen Elizabeth Silver Jubilee
This small coin is one of my father’s and one of my most prized possessions. On it is Queen Elizabeth II riding a horse. On the other side are a bird and a crown. The crown symbolizes the monarchy in England. It was my father's coin, which he got when he was 9. The coin is from England where he was born and where he grew up. It came out for Queen Elizabeth’s Silver Jubilee, which is when a monarch of England is on the throne for 25 years. This coin is from 1977, which makes it 40 years old. It is about my father's childhood and that is why I love it. The coin reminds him of his home in England when he first moved to America. His childhood is so much different to what I have experienced in mine, in America so it's a way for me to connect to his early life. There are so many stories connected to the small item and it has a lot of sentimental value. The object is important to me because my dad gave it to me even though it means so much to him. It is a way for my family to connect back to our heritage in England.
