My object is Roti. Roti Is a very popular kind of Flat bread in the Indian Culture. It is also very popular in my Parent’s Homeland, Guyana. The English Translation Is Tortilla, Which Is in Spanish for “Baked Cake”. Roti Is also known as Chapati, Or Flatbread. Here’s a recipe If you want to try it.
- Sift flour, baking powder and salt together.
- Add water a little at a time and knead into a soft smooth ball.
- Rub a little oil on the top of the dough ball to prevent from crusting.
- Divide dough into equal parts.
- From one end roll dough to form a log.
- Heat Tawah or cast iron skillet to medium heat.
- My Grandmother, makes it for me and my sister all the time in Guyana, And won’t let us leave without taking some with us. Roti also goes well with Curry, (Chicken, Beef, Vegetable, Etc.) Dal, Or you can Toast it on a Tawah, or a Cast iron Skillet and eat it plain.
