My grandfather (dad's father) had little money growing up. He fell in love with my grandmother in his early twenties, and saved all he could for her engagement ring. My grandmother passed when my father was young, and my grandfather eventually gave the ring to my father to propose to my mother. The ring means a lot to my parents and the ring will continue to be passed on for generations to come.
