Red Ribbon

My family was never very religious. My mother was catholic and my father was Jewish. Though I've been raised with both religions, I've been put through more catholic ceremonies. I have wished I could lean more on the Jewish side but didn't really know how. I was pretty surprised when my parents told me I had something right underneath my mattress this whole time. When I was asking about my religious heratage, they showed me the red ribbon. This red ribbon is a jewish tradition we were supposed to do by putting it underneath a newborn baby's bed. It was told to scare away bad thoughts and the "evil eye.” It was given to me by my grandmother the day I was born. It's somewhat comforting to know I can connect to one of my religions more.
