Red envelope

My family immigrated from Vietnamese to the U.S for better opportunities. The object I chose was the "red envelope", because even though we moved, our culture and traditions will always be in our heart. The red envelope reminds me of when I was back in Vietnam, celebrating lunar new year and doing our traditions every year again. This time Lunar New Year will be in the U.S. My family gets together to catch up, while giving out the red envelope. The red envelope symbolizes that the money is lucky. It's generally given by elders or adults, where a greeting or offering health and longevity is exchanged. When I receive red envelopes, the elders are always wishing me to do well in school, which I will persevere in school to remind me of why I moved to the U.S for a reason. The red envelope brings everyone together to celebrate and enjoy our time, reminding us who we are. Even though we miss Vietnam and are not able to visit, we can always celebrate our traditions still and have fun. It's not exactly the same but its close enough, we can always create new memories with our loved ones. The red envelope will always represent and remind me of who I am and where me and my family came from and why the red envelope is important for my culture.
