Picture of my great great, Grandmas farm

This is a picture drawn by my grandpa of his grandma’s uncles farm. It was a small tobacco farm on the Himalayan mountains in Kentucky where his grandma was raised by her aunt and uncle. He drew this picture on his first visit to the farm when he was 10 years old. On the property there was a one bedroom house which is more of shack than a house. There was no running water, electricity, or heating. There was a well by the kitchen door and an outhouse in the backyard they used. In the picture there is a big tree he remembers sitting under and talking with his family. He visited for a last time when he was 14 years old. He remembers the old tobacco barn well. It was a huge building with slats to the tobacco wouldn’t dry out. His grandma and grandpa later moved to Parsons, Kansas because his grandmas husband worked on the railroads. My grandpa and grandma still live in Parsons all these years later. This picture tell an important part of my families story and how we got to were we are today.
