This Puerto Rican flag has a lot of  meaning and pride to it. This flag is definitely a reason why I am so proud to be Puerto Rican. It is made from synthetic fabric. This flag is usually used  at Puerto Rican festivals on floats. It definitely represents the island and all of the people there. Even Though the flag was made for P.R it was made  and first used in New York. I was first taught about it when I was young in school. My family didn’t really tell me about the culture so i had to learn on my own. While interviewing my mother she said some things that I found to be inspirational. For example one thing she said about mamaia back then was “ They live having the basic needs and it wasn’t very flashy”. This just shows that back then all people needed was each other to live a long,  happy life. My grandfather was born in Puerto Rico and he moved here because he wanted a better life with more opportunities. Those were things he couldn’t seem to find in P.R. Though I don’t know much about this flag I do know that it means something special to my family which makes it important to me.
