My great-grandmother :)

My name is Savannah and the picture I have shown to the left is a picture of my great grandmother before her passing. The photo was used at her funeral with her birthday, 5/16/28 and the day she passed, 1/14/19. I was given this photo by my grandmother, as for the rest of my family, they also got the photo. My great grandmother was one of the first in her family to start her own family in America since her family was from Montserrat, which gives this photo such importance. I first heard about their immigration when I was taking a trip around the carribean with my family around where her family emigrated. This photo is in every bedroom of mine and my relatives' homes to remind us that she is still with us, just not in physical form. Without my great grandmother, me and my family wouldn't be here in America living the lives she wanted us to fulfill. Many stories were and still are told to me by my father about her and her families emigration from the carribean to America which all connect back to this one photo. 3 generations were born in America because of her and her family. I am thankful everyday to have her as my blood relative and for my family making sure I knew everything about my background. I am also thankful for being able to spend all the time I had spent with her. She truly represents my cultural background.
