Photograph of Family Bar
My great-great-great grandfather immigrated from Italy and was born in the late 1870’s. He had ten children and his entire family immigrated to America. They all arrived in America around 1906 and once they arrived, he had to find work. Instead of getting into labor like many other people at the time, he opened his own bar in New York which became his lifelong job. His immediate family and also other family members regularly visited the bar and helped him start his business. Eventually, many customers came and business became even better. This bar was my great-great-great grandfather’s job until he retired and eventually died in 1977 at the age of 99. This bar is an example of the absolute beginning of my family immigrating to America from Italy on my mother’s side of the family. Also, over time my family has evolved into who we are today and we have found many new jobs and businesses to work at since the beginning.
