My three sons plus one

As a parent, there are so many memories, I have so many thoughts and laughs that I would like to pass on to my kids to let them know how much I love them and how important they are to me. This one photo touches my heart the most. My three sons plus one are the three chambers of my heart: my oldest son Ronald, my first grandson Josiah and my twin sons Jeremiah and Jeramiel. Ronald is a single parent in the US Coast Guard and Jeremiah and Jeramiel are in college.

Raising them as a single parent had some challenges, but I gladly sacrificed financially to put them all through private school until high school. I showed them how to put God first and how to pray through the storms. We enjoyed so many family moments because I taught them that family time is priceless. I took them skiing, tubing, skateboarding, bowling, Amtrak trips to nowhere and even to a rodeo. We traveled a lot with league soccer and basketball, which made them enjoy the sports as a hobby versus a career.

They are very respectful, caring and fun. They always say “ma’am and no sir” to everyone they meet. These guys gave me no late-night drama and no crazy police moments. So as my oldest walks in the path of fatherhood, I see some of the things we shared being passed on to his son. Are my sons perfect . . . no, but these guys are my heart, my forever love. I took this photo as I watched my eldest son tell stories about his job as we stood in the helicopter hanger. This photo is one of my proudest moments, my three sons plus one.
