My notebook
I have an ordinary notebook, but it’s special for me. When I got my first job in the United States, I had no idea how to do it. I was a waitress in a Japanese restaurant. At that time, I didn’t even know the difference between sushi and a sushi roll. The menu was totally strange for me and every item on the menu was written in Japanese and English, neither of which I spoke. So I started to write down in my notebook every item on the menu. I also wrote down a lot of tips to help me be a more professional waitress. Today, I no longer need my notebook but I look at it from time to time. Every time I feel life is hard, I open the notebook. It reminds me of how far I've come since I first arrived in the United States.
