My grandpa story
When I was little, I once saw my grandfather carving a piece of wood and asked my mother why he always carried a cane. She then told me his story.
When my mother was a teenager, her family lived in poverty, and my grandfather was the main provider. One day, while picking oranges from a tree for his children, a branch broke and he fell from a great height, breaking his spine. Doctors said he would never walk again and would need a wheelchair for the rest of his life.
The accident caused serious financial struggles, forcing my mother and her siblings to leave school and work. However, despite the doctors’ predictions, my grandfather eventually walked again. Although he still suffers back pain and relies on a cane for support, he recovered far more than anyone expected.
This story reminds me of my grandfather’s strength and of the difficult times my family overcame together.
