Mom

Relationship: Child of im/migrant

This picture is a picture of MTA train map. The reason why I chose this picture is because whenever I see this I think of my mom because she works for the MTA. I don’t have a special item that represents my identity or tells my family story. My family doesn’t have a story and there are no items that were passed down that are special to my family.  The only thing that shapes my identity is my mother. There are a lot of qualities that my mother has that are starting to rub off on my everyday and as I get older. My mom is a very independent, caring, funny, selfless person. My mom makes my identity because from a little kid to now my she has been raising my brother and I by herself. As I get older the more I realize that I am starting to become more like her. For example, the way I carry myself, and my mindset is similar to hers. Adding on the way she raised me helps shape my identity because all of the values she taught me growing up will be stuck with me for the rest of my life and I will teach my kids the things she taught me.
