Lighter passed down from family

The object I have chosen is a lighter that has been passed down within my family. My fathers grandfather was in the US Navy during the time of WWII and the early cold war, and at one point in time he was stationed in Cuba. It was then that he would meet a woman, who would eventually become my great grandmother. During this time while he was stationed, my great grandmother’s father gave my great grandfather this lighter, as a token of respect and his blessing for him to marry his daughter. It was at this point that this lighter would begin to be passed down throughout my families generations, eventually being given to me by my father.
