Medical Badges

These badges were given to my grandfather while he was aboard the USS Okinawa. My grandpa wore these badges with great pride while he was aboard, which was two years, and he earned a lot of respect through them. His favorite memory with these badges is when he treated a Southern Vietnamese soldier who had been shot through the leg with an AK-47. The result fractured his distal femur. He was respected on the ship because of these badges. My grandpa still treats people today as an orthopaedic surgeon.
