When I see the ingredients to make lasagna I already know my mom is about to make my favorite childhood dish. Around Thanksgiving lasagna is ALWAYS the first thing that comes to mind. My mom makes it every year and sometimes on Birthdays. The smell of the mozzarella cheese melted all over the pasta with ground beef mixed with red tomato sauce is heavenly. The texture of soft cooked pasta, soft fine curd cheese, with small cooked ground meat pieces is delicious.
In the early 2000's my mom met her cousin who taught her how to make lasagna. Since my mom is from Mexico she was unfamiliar with Lasagna. Her cousin used to work at an Italian restaurant where she learned how to make it. The lasagna would have pasta layered with tomato sauce mixed with cream, ground beef and shredded mozzarella cheese added. Once you reach all the way to the top a bunch of mozzarella is added to have that cheesy taste. All these ingredients can be found in a market.“Polly-O Mozzarella Cheese” is the best cheese to make lasagna, their cheese melts perfectly on the pasta.
Lasagna will always be my favorite dish in the world because it reminds me so much of my childhood. It brings me back all the good memories and all the Thanksgiving I would spend with the whole family. Lasagna will be my forever favorite childhood dish.
