Jack Lambert Danbury Mint Figure

The object I chose is a vintage Danbury Mint Jack Lambert figure. Jack Lambert was a Linebacker who was a professional football player for the Pittsburgh Steelers. He played from 1974-1985 but had to retire due to injuries. The figure is made of cold cast porcelain and was sold by the National Football League. I believe it was bought while he was still a player. This object was my grandfather's that was given to my father then to me as I got older. The way I connect with this object is that it is a symbol of intergenerational appreciation and knowledge of ongoing interest. My grandfather was a huge Steelers fan. He lived in Arizona so I would’ve assumed he would've been a Cardinals fan. That's how he connected with the object. Every Sunday my father and I watch football all day and we've been doing it since I was a child. This object connects to me and my family because of our love for Football. We all love the sport and throw a huge party for the Super Bowl every year (the championship game). Football has been in my Family’s blood for a long time. My grandfather wasn't able to play because of his health but, my father played in elementary and middle school. I’ve had cousins who have played football for Napa high and Vintage. This object is important to me because it's something I was given by my father which was his father’s. It is nice knowing that we all had a love of the great sport that is Football.
