Gzhel Ram

The Gzhel Sheep is proudly on display next to unlit menorah on the shelf in the kitchen. When coming to the United States, my parents were immersed into the incredible and vibrant culture of New York City, a culture that contains within itself the motifs and memoirs of millions of people. Gzhel, a Russian style of decoration was applied to a ram, which was the zodiac animal of 1991, the year my parents came to the United States. The Russian style, in conflict with Chinese folklore, illustrates the incredible cultural diversity of New York City.
Year: 1991
