Great Grandmas Cross Necklace

Imagine having a chain, that held your entire family's beliefs and morals in just one charm? This necklace is my great Grandma’s cross, which is passed down from generation to generation. It was worn by my great Grandma on her wedding day and she gave it to her daughter, my grandma on her wedding day. In addition every first born girl in the next generation wears in on their wedding day, and has possession of it until she has a daughter of her own. Then the necklace is given to that daughter on her wedding day. Also this necklace was gifted from my great Grandfather. On their wedding day he gave it to her to wear, and as a gift. My mom showed it to me when I was younger and told me that one day when I get married it will be mine to wear it, and then pass it down to my daughter. Of course my family connects with this object on weddings, that’s when the bride wears the necklace fro the first time. Additionally it represents love, and my family's background. This necklace is important to me because it reminds me of my great grandma and that one day I will be able to wear it and feel apart of the tradition. This necklace connects me to my culture, the cross represents Christianity and that is my family’s religious believes. Therefore this necklace represents my identity, and my role as a member in my family.
