This object is a thesis that my mom wrote in graduate school. A thesis is an essay that is used during graduate school to prove or support a claim. These are usually written as an assignment in graduate school to prove your knowledge of the subject, and your ability to support a claim. This thesis was written in the US, by my mom who is a taiwanese immigrant. She came to the US to go to graduate school in 2001, and while in graduate school she wrote this thesis. This thesis was written in 2007 (around 14 years old as of 2021), and is kept on a bookshelf in our house. It is important to our family because it represents why my mom came to the US in the first place. It is a reminder of why I am here. It also shows our family’s value of education. If my parents did not value education as much, they might not have come to the US, and they have taught me that a good education is very important.
