The dragon bracelet and box

Something that everyone would like to acquire in their life is luck. Luck grants success and ambition; it’s an opportunity to prosper and flourish. I wear bracelets for this purpose. A while ago, I received a gold lucky dragon bracelet from my aunt from a Buddhist temple in Thailand. I came across this when I noticed my cousin wearing it in Vietnam.
Originating from China, the bracelet is composed of red woven fibers and a golden dragon centerpiece that can change color. The box has Thai inscriptions and a bronze tassel.
Furthermore, there are specific rules when wearing it. The dragon’s color changes depending on the environment; green and blue indicate a prosperous environment, red the opposite, meaning harm is coming to you. Also, the wearer should wear it on the left hand.
The importance of luck in my family and my culture is that it affects our practices. My family believes luck comes from praying, ancestor worship, and divination rituals. These create a cultural identity that connects to others. For example, our practices originate from China’s Taoism and Feng Shui, and cultures like India and Thailand. Believing in luck has always been a significant part of my life; it has always given me security and hope as well as fond memories. It connects me and my family back to Vietnam.
