Handmade heirlooms
The sweater vest was made by my dad's mother when he left Denmark. The evening purse was made by my mother's mother when she left in 1926. The hanky was done later by her. When my mother left for the U.S. she said she would be back in 5 years. She met my dad in Minneapolis at the Young People's Home. They were married and the Depression happened, so they couldn't go back to Denmark. When I was born, her aim was to get back with her baby. Then her mother died before she could go back. After that, she lost the desire to go. My parents finally went back to Denmark in 1959. These handmade items were the last things my parents had from their parents.
