Farmworker
My mother was able to become a United States of America resident thanks to her eldest sister who once married and lived in California was able to help her family apply for U.S residency. Once my mother and her family became U.S residents they migrated to California, to the city of Oxnard. My mother has worked as a farm worker her entire life until recently Dole Berry closed the company. My mother has picked tomatoes, chiles, but mostly worked in the strawberry fields. My mother helped bring the Cesar Chavez Union, the United Farm Workers into her work for fair wages. She always taught us work ethic but most of all to follow our dreams and hers of having a education. She also made her dreams come true when she became a citizen of the United States.
