Ettore and his cars.
My Italian uncle Ettore Bogani loved cars just like me. He originally raced cars around Italy in endurance races including the famous “Six Hours of Mugello”. He lived in Florence, Italy and started his own car company after his racing career.
The Bogani company was known all around Florence and is still remembered today. The most famous car to ever set foot on Italian streets was the “Bogani Sport Nazionale N.14”, an Italian hillclimb car that was also very fast and well known in hill climb racing. My uncle liked to use different parts and engines from other cars with this car in particular having an Alfa Romeo engine and even parts from a Yaris. There are currently two known Bogani cars in the world that still exist to this day. One is in a museum in Italy and one was fabulously restored by Andrea Balducci and still races to this day.
The photo is one of the company stickers that was given to me by my Italian cousin. You can’t find these anywhere and it’s one of the few artifacts from the company that still exists. The company went out of business and was sold a few years ago after the passing of Ettore. The company's legacy still lives on in Florence and if you mention the Bogani’s to someone who loves cars, I bet you they've probably heard of them. My cousins also did hill climb racing in Italy and are now both retired with one of them now a bus driver in Florence. The sticker now resides in my room on the wall as a remembrance of Ettore and his legacy.
