Drum (Conga)
This is an image of a drum that belongs to my Uncle and it symbolizes the music in my culture. In Spanish for a drum that is most primarily played for Salsa music is called the conga. I am puerto-rican, and in my culture and family music takes a important role. Music is what describes our personality and what makes us unique. In my family growing up my parents would always play music along with my aunts, uncles and cousins and just sit there to have the music flow through their ears. This drum also signifies unity in a family because has always been important for the reason that they would always be by your side. My uncle every weekend would go down to neighborhood parties and clubs and just play all night long passionately, having the expression of being proud of being latino and being proud to spread his music and positive through the hands on his drum. I'm thankful to express my feelings and beliefs on how I'm proud to be a Latina and puerto-rican and being able to share my story.
