Dominican Pesos

My object are dominican pesos that were given to me by my father. The reason why choose these common Dominican pesos as my object is because whenever I hold them Im reminded of the times I have visited the dominican republic and spent time with my family who live over there. The most vivid memory I have of using these pesos is when my father gave me 100 pesos in order to buy a refresco rojo which is my favorite. This is important to me because experiences such as this are important to me and my identity because with these experiences I am able to strengthen my connection with the country my parents came from and where most of my culture was born. Since I was born in New York the culture I have experienced a different hispanic culture to the purely Dominican one that my parents and other family members. For example in New York one wouldn't be able to find street vendors that sell fried fish as easily as it would be on the beaches of the Dominican Republic also there isn't nearly as many people outside at night drinking and playing dominoes until 12:00 at night. While New York has spanish bodegas there aren't any open are colmados where just outside there are kids playing on the street while stray dogs watch from the corner. Experiences
