Cookbook
My mother came to the United States around 1995 as an immigrant from the Philippines. Before she left, her sister gave her a Filipino cookbook full of Filipino recipes. My mother's sister came across it in while walking down a street full of vendors. The directions are all in Tagalog--the prominent language of the Philippines. It contains all kinds of dinner, dessert, and candy recipes that are popular in the Philippines. Her sister gave it to her in hope that my mother would cook the recipes as a way to remember her culture. My mother happily accepted and thus it inspired her to collect other recipes when she came to the United States. To this day my mother still cooks new recipes now and then from the book that she decides to try. One day my mother hopes to pass down not only this cookbook but the other recipes that she's collected over the years towards me and my sisters.
