Cheer Pom Poms
pictured here are my cheer pom poms . In specific they are the ones gifted to me by my coach as appreciation of being a co-captain . I used these specifically because finally being appointed in a captain position after 6 years of hard work and dedication put into the sport was so rewarding . I never feel undeserving of what its given to me, especially this because i know if I got it , it was earned . Cheerleading has been a large part of my life for 7 years . when i was 10 I decided to cheer for fun, not really thinking too much about it . Never would i have guessed that i would become so obsessed with it . I think what made me obsessed with cheerleading was that it was so woman dominant . Many sports are not as women forward as cheerleading has been for decades. I would also say the femininity aspect for me aswell. expressing my femininity is important to me and i think cheer gives me the space to do so. Pom Poms always play a huge role because i never had them in cheerleading until sophomore year so when i finally got them i was ecstatic. Being awarded that Co-captain position sophomore year was extremely exciting . But those silver poms not my red and white ones, symbolized so much more for me . I felt like those silver poms meant that in time you will get what you deserve and with the most positive connotation you can think of , and not everyone has these poms, just me and my other captains so it really makes me feel I worked for what I got
