Ellis Island was one of the key gateways to coming in from Europe during the turn of the century. Over twelve million people immigrated here and of those twelve million, my great great grandparents were of them who then went to live in the Brighton Beach Brooklyn. Just like the rest of the twelve million who came, they went through both the hard land and sea journey to arrive here. They were among of the lucky ones as they were able to go college here in this city and were able to have a steady income and not have to work in factories.
