Carved Wooden Horse
My object is a wooden horse from Kenmare, Ireland. My family that lives in the US took a trip to Ireland for my grandparents 50th wedding anniversary. Part of my family lives in Kenmare and when we went traveling there, we stayed at the Adare Manor in Limerick, Ireland for two days. Then, we made the drive to Kenmare. I saw where my grandmother’s grandfather was born and lived with his 13 other siblings. I also saw where my great-great-grandfather was baptized. Later, my great-great grandpa traveled to the US and became a New York police officer. In the town, there were a bunch of shops and boutiques on one big road. I went shopping for gifts for my friends, and my dad found the horse. The horse was cold, like the weather in Ireland and smooth. It is about the size of my hands, and the mane is very bumpy. Our family had a huge party, we all met each other, and there were a lot of pictures taken. The horse reminds me of all my family and their farm where they have cows and sheep. Even though I have only met that side of my family once, I still have a growing love for them and I can’t wait to see them again.
