Belize and Mayan Culture
My name is Maximus Bradley and my dad was born in the country of Belize (it used to be called British Honduras), which is in Central America. He came to the United States with his mother in 1983 who is also from Belize, as all of his family on both sides are from Belize.
Belizean culture is a mixture of Kriol, Mayan, East Indian, Garifuna, and Mestizos which is a mixture of Spanish and Native Americans. Because of our rich culture, we have a lot of good food in Belize like Johnny Cake (MY FAVORITE), fry jack, stewed chicken with rice and beans and tamales. When we need tortillas for our garnaches or salbutes, we use Masa Harina (corn flour) and put it into the tortilla presser that my grandma and her family used in Belize.
I included a photo of when I went to Belize and visited the ancient Mayan ruins called "Altun Ha". Some of the structures dates to BC 800-900.
