My family came from Poland in 1906. I still have my Great Aunt Helen's banana cake recipe available. My Aunt Helen's recipe for banana bread called for "1 glass of sugar." When I made the recipe, it didn't taste like Aunt Helen's cake. I had used a cup measure-- she told me that the recipe had to use a Yahrzeit glass of sugar for it to taste the way she made it.
