Albanian-English Dictionary

Albanian-English dictionary My mom and I moved to the United States in 2008 and I was 11 at that time. I was already fluent in English but my mom wasn’t. The language barrier didn’t prevent her from coming here because this was the only place where she could provide a better future for both of us. Her first introduction to the English language was through this dictionary and this is why it’s one of the most valuable things for her. The hardest part of my mom not speaking English and having a hard time learning it was that I was her translator. Another issue the language barrier created for my mom was unemployment. Our financial status was one of the reasons why we moved here and not being able to find a job was one of the hardest things we had to experience. I remember my mom’s disappointment every time she would come home from a job interview and tell me how hard it was to hear NO over and over again. She soon found a way of overcoming the language barrier and moving forward. She enrolled to ESL classes and studied on her own everyday. This dictionary is a symbol of pride and hope for my family because no matter what my mom went through she was determined to learn the language in a short amount of time and not give up.
