Agdoma
Every Easter, my family and I celebrate a special tradition called Agdgoma, which is the Georgian celebration of Easter. It’s an important religious and cultural holiday that brings people and families together in both prayer and celebration. On this day, we prepare food, go to the cemetery to visit the graves of our dead relatives, and pray for them. We also crack red-dyed eggs, which is a meaningful symbol in our culture. One of the most powerful parts of the tradition is spending the whole night in church, praying and reflecting on our faith. Agdgoma comes from the resurrection of Jesus Christ, and it represents rebirth and hope. My whole family is deeply connected to this tradition, we do it every single year and make great memories. This tradition tells people that Georgians have deep faith and connection and value our religion very much. Celebrating Agdgoma is important to me because it makes our bond with my family stronger and it reminds me where I came from and who I am as a person.
