My Great-grandma's cooking olla is symbolic of my family and my heritage.  My mother and her sisters grew up around my great-grandmother, and what she loved to do was cook. The object pictured here is my great-grandmother's olla.  She cooked everything in this pot, especially sancocho. This object is very important to my family because it was passed down by a very important family member. This object makes my family story unique because it reminds us of how much my great-grandmother loved to cook and how it inspired my mother and her sisters to learn how to cook and make the Latino food like she used to make when they were growing up. This object represents my family's cultural identity because it represents our love for Latino cooking.  While growing up in my family, I was always surrounded by my family members crowded in a small kitchen cooking either every holiday, birthday, or just for dinner.
