This is a picture of my mother and her brother when they were young children. During the Cultural Revolution, any displays of wealth or extravagance were discouraged and could lead to potential danger. Children dressed in a similar fashion of woolen sweaters, with what my mother called, a little pin for the Communist Party. I think this really portrays the changes we have been through, with my parents starting in such a stifling country but immigrating to the United States, with its capitalistic outlook.
