This photo was taken in 1978. It is my family moving to the U.S after escaping Vietnam. During that time, the Vietnam war took place which caused many families to be separated from each other and also escape their home country. My family was lucky enough to take a risk and escape to the Massachusets by boat. My grandfather (who is also in this picture) fought in the Vietnam war and spent about 3 years in jail. He got out and left with his family to the U.S. He was separated from his other siblings including his brother who didn't survive the war. He now lives in Los Angeles with my Grandmother.
