This object belongs to my grandmother, Haruko Izaki Kunkle. This is a japanese makeup tray of filled of generations of memories. Grandma used to use this tray tray to collect her makeup, she did it every morning. As a child, our family, even my mom as a child would admire her as she would apply her makeup. Grandpa brought the tray down from Japan when she moved in 1962 when she married my Pop Pop. He took her away from the remains from World War ll. Grandma lived in Hiroshima, right where they got bombed in 1945. She was there when it happened. She doesnt like to talk about it, but grandma, and everything she built there was destroyed. She had to leave. She moved to Charlotte North carolina, and built her life with little money, and 3 children. She Lived on the be a legal immagrant in the United States. But was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and greatgrandmother.
